June 27, 2025 (Lexington, KY) &#8211; The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) has established a Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) that will be made up of licensed medical professionals from a variety of specialties across the United States. The committee will bring diverse perspectives and clinical experience to provide expert guidance on matters related to jockey health, safety and well-being. The MAC will provide feedback to HISA’s executive team and standing committees by offering recommendations on best practices for HISA’s human safety rules, reviewing proposed rules and advising on medical protocols involving jockey care, injury prevention, emergency response and other relevant health and safety topics. The group will meet quarterly and will maintain an on-call advisory role for immediate consultation in the event of specific issues.
HISA is now accepting applications from qualified medical professionals to serve on this committee. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated expertise in areas such as sports medicine, emergency medicine, orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, trauma care, mental health or other medical disciplines. Experience working with athletes or in high-performance sports environments is strongly preferred.
